Zanthoxylum Fagara

The wild lime is a native plant of Florida.

The Zanthoxylum Fagra also known as the wild limes is a plant native to Florida. This plant can be found in the coastal upland plant communities on the lee side of the dunes in South Florida. They can up to 23 feet tall or 7 meters. These trees are much smaller than other limes trees, have a high tolerance to droughts, and will grow best in the sunlight.

There isn't much of a medical use for the zanthoxylum fagara, but there are many legends that say if you rub the leaves on your teeth and gums, they would heal almost instantly.

This plant is just like any other for certain purposes. It feeds birds and gives bees a chance to pollinate. It affects birds by giving them food (from the small fruit it grows) and allows the pollinators, mainly the giant swallowtail butterfly, to do their job.
